Create New Database Product from S-57 File

File > Create New Database Product From > S-57 File

Create a new product using existing S-57 files (with file extension .000, .001, and so on.) as templates. The product extent and metadata are obtained from the template. There are a number of rules for using an S-57 template file:

• the file can have only one M_COVR meta object with CATCOV=1

• the meta object M_COVR/CATCOV=1 cannot have any interior holes

• M_COVR/CATCOV=2 meta objects are ignored

• the Edition number is always incremented by one; the new product is assigned an edition number one greater than that of the S-57 template file.

Procedure

1. Open an HPD workspace.

See “Open Workspace” on page 840.

2. Zoom into the area where you want to create the product.

3. Select the Create New Database Product From S-57 File command.

A File Open dialog box is displayed.

4. Select an S-57 file to use a a template.

5. Click Open.

The Create S-57 Product Wizard is displayed.

6. Complete the Create S-57 Product Wizard.

The new product is created and displayed as a layer in the Layers window.

Important: Save the new product before modifying it.
