The resulting Oracle dump file (.dmp) produced by the export may be a very large file. Fortunately, dump files can easily be compressed using a program such as 7Zip, resulting in file sizes only 15-30% of the original DMP file size.
CARIS recommends that Oracle dump files be compressed to save space on the computer network. Also, it is highly recommended to compress any files before sending them to CARIS Customer Services for review, as this step will greatly improve the upload/transfer speed.
