Colour Profiles

Colour profiles are tables developed by the International Colour Consortium (ICC) to encode reproducible colours on a hardware device or software application.

A colour profile can be embedded in an INT1 chart at export to ensure a consistent colour scheme – regardless of the device or third-party application in which the chart is opened. Colour profiles can be applied to the following formats:

PostScript (if the chart contains raster layers or dynamic masking)

PDF

TIFF

ICC colour profiles are embedded using the <InputICCProfile> tag in the INT1 section of the Portrayal Control File (see “Portrayal Control File” on page 12).

The ICC colour profile tag is not included in the default Portrayal Control File and must be added manually.

This tag contains the name and path of colour profile. For example:

<InputICCProfile File="c:\work\ColourProfiles\InkJetPrinterColourProfile.icc" />

No colour profiles are provided with the installation. Ideally, the colour profile of the device that is used to print the chart should be the embedded profile, but others can be used, as needed.

Note: The colour format (CMYK, RGB) of the colour profile needs to match the type of colours used in the Colour Map.
