A project contains the list of open layers and their properties, the draw order, whether layers are displayed or hidden, and the geographic extents of the data.
Any changes made to the layers, such as being selected or deselected, or other files being opened are saved when the project file is saved.
Project files are useful if you are working with a variety of datasets and external files because you do not have to open each file individually every time.
Project files are associated with the product for which they were created. For example, a project file created for an HPD paper chart product can be opened only in the Paper Chart Editor. A project file created for an ENC product in the Product Editor cannot be opened in the Paper Chart Editor. |
Project files are XML files with the extension .project. They can be manually edited using a text editor or XML editor. Any changes made manually will be displayed the next time the project file is opened.
The name of the project file is displayed in the title bar.
