Add a new object to a publication catalogue. New objects are derived from base objects or from a generic object.

Procedure
1. Make sure that a catalogue is open.
2. In the Object Browser, select the Objects layer.
3. Select the Add command.
The Select Object Type dialog box is displayed.

This dialog box lists the available objects in the catalogue
4. [Optional] If the list is large, type the object name in the Search object types field to narrow the list.
5. Select an object from the list.
6. Click OK.
The object is listed in the Object Browser window.

When the object is selected, its properties are visible in the Properties window.
7. Complete the following values in the Properties window.
Property | Description |

Code | Name of the object that is used as an XML tag. The following rules apply to this field: • Names can contain alphanumeric characters • Names cannot start with a number or punctuation character • Names cannot start with "xml" • Names cannot contain spaces (use the underscore character to represent a space). |
Name | An identifier for the object in the Object Browser. The label can have spaces. |
Base Type | This is read-only object that this object is based upon. You can pick another if needed. |
Remarks | Any additional information. |
Use Name in Summary | Allows the name of the object type to be used in the summary of instances of the object. |
