Remove the overlapping portions of edges in selected lines and areas that are nearly exact. Overlaps are nearly exact when they are within a very small tolerance of one half the X/Y resolution of the dataset. This can be used to resolve validation issues related to nearly exact overlaps.

There are two similar commands:

• Remove Edge Overlaps with Identical Coordinates command can be used to resolve exact overlaps.

• Conflate Edges command can be used to resolve near overlaps.

If any other feature types such as points or soundings are in the selection, no overlaps will be removed.

The output is displayed in a message box.

Procedure

1. Select two or more lines or areas.

2. Select the Remove Overlaps command.

If overlaps are removed, a message like this is displayed.
