Set Font Size

Set the size of the text in points.

If you are creating a text feature, this size is applied to the entire new text string.

If you are editing an existing text feature, this size is applied only to the selected characters.

Always check the toolbar settings before adding text. Toolbar settings are remembered from the last selected text and will be applied to any new text if you do not change them first.

Related commands

Text is formatted using the Text toolbar.

The Text toolbar is used both to create text and to edit it.

If you create text, all settings in the toolbar are applied to the new text.

Description

Add Linear Text

Add a text feature. See Create Text Feature for details.

Text Colour

Text Colour: The colour for the text.

1. Click on the down-arrow.

2. Select a colour from the palette.

Create: This colour is applied to the entire new text string.

Edit: This colour is applied only to the selected characters.

Font

The typeface for the text. Select from the list

The size of the text in points. Select from the list or type a numerical value.

Create: The entire string will use this typeface and size.

Edit: Only the selected characters will be set to this typeface and size.

Text formatting

Make text bold.

Make text italic.

Underline text.

Create: The formatting is applied to the entire new text string.

Edit: The formatting is applied only to the selected characters.

Text alignment

Left-justify text. Align the text to the left edge of the line used to add it.

Centre-justify text. Align the text to the centre of the line used to add it.

Right-justify text. Align the text to the right edge of the line used to add it.

Fully justify text. Align text between the start and end points of the line used to add it. This may result in text appearing stretched or compressed to fit between the points.

This is applied both to text you are adding and to text you are editing.

Text Styles

Text styles and text style commands. A text style is a group of formatting settings that can be applied in a single step.

<Text style name>: All existing text styles. Select the style to be applied to the new text feature.

Add Text Style: Create a new text style using the current settings in the Text toolbar

Remove Text Style: Delete a text style.

Text styles are applied to new text and to selected characters of existing text.

Rotation

Rotate text.

This is applied to the entire selected text string. If the text is added with North or South Pole orientation, zero degrees is based on the coordinate reference system. If the text is added using Grid North, zero degrees is upright based on the display.

Orientation

North Pole: Orient text towards the North Pole, as defined in the coordinate reference system..

South Pole: Orient text towards the South Pole, as defined in the coordinate reference system.

Grid North: Add text normally with no rotation toward any pole.

Add Contour Labels

Add depth contour labels.

Add land elevation contour labels.
