Workspaces

Workspaces are now almost entirely superseded by HPD Projects.

A workspace consists of a specific geographic extent on a selected database usage.

Workspaces are accessed from projects as means to create and modify data within a geographic extent.

If you frequently work on the same area, you can save that area as a workspace. With a workspace, you do not have to open the entire database view each time Features in the open project will be visible, but you will be unable to select any features that are completely outside the workspace.

A new workspace is associated with the user who created it.

When a workspace is created, it is automatically saved to the database.

Define a workspace by specifying the following parameters:

Name: This identifies the workspace. Required.

Description: Text containing any necessary descriptive details. Optional.

Default usage: The usage containing the data of interest,

Extent: The minimum and maximum extent of the workspace in decimal degrees or degrees-minutes-seconds. If another file is open, the current extent of the Display window is used.
